This superior flavor is “locked” into the can with a specially designed Flavor Lock Lid.

But Is Coffee Healthy Nowadays?

Believe it or not, recent studies are starting to emerge touting the benefits of coffee consumption. In truth, coffee beans are extraordinarily complex fruits containing over 1,000 compounds – only a handful of which have ever been individually investigated by scientists. Not only is coffee packed with antioxidants, but it just may be the greatest source of antioxidants in the American diet.

The average American coffee drinker consumes about 3.1 cups of coffee a day but extensive research has found that high volumes – as much as 4 to 12 cups a day – can help prevent most major killers like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, liver disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Coffee and Diabetes Management

According to the International Diabetes Federation on September 13, 2011, the total number of diabetics worldwide was estimated to be 366 million. Scientific studies have recently found that regular coffee consumption (with its chlorogenic acid content) lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes by up to 67%. This may be the result of lowered levels of blood glucose, increased insulin sensitivity, and decreased storage of both fat and carbohydrate.

A promising study appearing in the June 8, 2011 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute reported that men who drank over 6 cups of coffee a day had an 8% lower risk of prostate cancer and a 40% lower risk of aggressive or lethal prostate cancer. This effect was noted for decaffeinated as well as caffeinated coffee – indicating that compounds other than caffeine are responsible for their preventive effect.

Breast, colorectal and oral or pharyngeal cancers also exhibited a decrease of risk with higher volume coffee consumption.

Yes, it’s interesting that recent studies have confirmed what us coffee lovers have unconsciously known all along: coffee not only tastes good, it does the body good too. Far from being a risky habit, coffee drinking has now been shown to provide powerful protection against an epidemic of diabetes and a rising tide of other age-related diseases. Talk about an inexpensive elixir to go!

So, no need to feel guilty consuming your Maxwell House dark blend coffee available in an 11 ounce can, 33 ounce canister or 11 ounce vacuum bag. Experiment with its flavor by adding hot milk, semi-sweet chocolate and peppermint extract for a delicious peppermint mocha.

But anyway you choose to brew Maxwell House Dark Blend you’ll create a beautifully balanced cup of coffee on demand to satisfy your senses and delight your palate.
